Credit and debit at ATM’s or cash point machines as they are more commonly known, is constantly on the increase.  Credit card is not just limited to ATM machines but can occur when making a purchase such as DC women’s shoes. How do you realise if the ATM machine has been tampered with and by using it without due care and attention, you could end up being the next victim to  card fraud. Do you knowingly protect and cover your pin when using ATM machines, but how do you cover your pin and who do you cover it from? Well guess what, it can so easily happen to you.

Which slant do you cover your pin from? I feel vulnerable by using the cash point and who is around me. Is anyone standing right behind me? But the thing I didn’t think of was the machine had been tampered with and someone was keeping an eye on me but they were not in sight. I wasn’t conscious that anything was amiss or I was being watched.

There was nothing odd about the which we used on the way to buy our new season’s women’s footwear. I entered my pin and made my request, but then my card was not given back, the machine had got stuck.

Oh no, I think the machine has eaten my card but what do you do? The machine didn’t have a phone number on it to call for any assistance when you encounter problems. I have never thought about carrying any bank emergency telephone numbers separately.  I’d never thought I would be in this position.

I can see part of the card but I can’t reach it and pull it out. With this rising ATM scams you are at higher risk of becoming a target. Above the keypad area it is likely that there is a camera recording your pin entry.

Yes whoever, is watching you and part of this scam, will likely be familiar with your pin number unless you covered it. Whatever you do, don’t leave the machine unattended, unless by a trustworthy friend, because as soon as you leave the cashpoint machine, these individuals will appear and begin to use it as if doing their own transaction. But no, they are not, they will be taking your bank card and going off with it. With your pin number and card these scammers are able to use it at other cashpoints and keep using it until they have reached the daily limit, [or] all the is withdrawn from the account or the bank cancel it and put a stop on its use.

You will need to remain at the machine and not let anybody use it. Check the vacinity where you insert your card and see if anything comes off or can be removed.

Your card is stopped from being returned to you, causing it to stop in the machine, because they have put an extra cover over the place where you use your card and it has something there such as a piece of card to stop it coming straight out. You may want to push your card back into the machine so it cannot be retrieved by anybody else and make you time to cancel your card.

Sometimes you can see some light shining at the top portion of the machine signage which fools you to think this is lit up when in fact it is the recording part of the scam cunningly hidden.    have a look to see if you can see any cameras or small holes which could be watchingthe pin pad. Either a simple little camera gadget or a mobile phone with the camera facility in use.

If you are in any doubt at all, remember not to walk away from the ATM.    If you can’t stop your cards you may require help from the police who can also look into this incident if the machine is found to be tampered with.

To make sure you are less likely to become a victim and not be inconvenienced , make sure you are aware to using the cashpoint machines.
